Definition

What it means

A funnel maps a journey such as visit, sign-up, activation and purchase. Counting how many people reach each step shows where most are lost.

It is the simplest way to decide which part of a journey to fix first.

Data & Measurement

Why it matters, with an example

It points to the one step that loses the most people, which is the step to fix first.

For example: Of 1,000 visitors, 100 sign up, 40 activate and 10 pay. The largest loss is from visit to sign-up, where 900 of 1,000 are lost.
