Schema and Open Graph checker

Reads a page's Open Graph, X card and JSON-LD and tells you exactly what is missing or broken, before a share looks blank or a rich result never shows.

This is one of the checks inside Growth Score

Growth Score runs it with the rest on your live site, scores the result and shows what to fix first.

Why it matters

Why this is worth checking

Open Graph decides what your page looks like when somebody shares it, and the default when it is missing is a grey box with a URL in it.

Structured data is separate and decides whether search can show your page as something richer than a blue link. Neither is guaranteed to be used, and both are guaranteed not to be used if absent.

What it reads

What it looks at

  • Open Graph title, image, type, url
  • X card type, and whether it fits
  • Structured data: present and valid
  • The schema type you claim to be

Reading a result

What a finding means

Each finding says what was seen. This is what it tells you about the page.

No Open Graph imageA shared link shows a grey box instead of a preview.
Structured data that is invalidSearch cannot use it, so the page is not eligible for a richer result.
A type that does not fitThe markup says one thing and the page is another.

Being eligible for a rich result is not being given one. This checks that what you are offering is well formed; whether Google prints it is Google's call.

FAQ

Questions

Does schema give me rich results?

It makes the page eligible. Whether Google prints a rich result is Google's decision.

Do I need both Open Graph and schema?

They do different jobs. Open Graph shapes shared links. Structured data helps search understand the page.

Does the check change my site?

No. It only reads. Nothing is installed, edited or sent to your site by a check.
